Haptic Interface. We were invited to take part in a 10 day workshop in Hong Kong that brought together a group of 15 designers from
Australia, Germany, Japan, China and the UK. The workshop explored ways of creating a dialogue between technology, art and the body.
We created Mating Call, a neck piece that has the potential to respond to its wearer. Taking inspiration from the animal kingdom the
‘Mating Call’ opens it’s pleats when it’s wearer adopts a dominant position by tilting the head back and standing up straight.
This position is registered by a 9DOF sensor which transmits data to the 6 servos within the garment.
These servos lift the pleated iridescent fabric to open the garment.
